The Environmental Group Limited (EGL) is a publicly listed company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange since 1977. The ASX code is EGL. The company was incorporated in 1923.

Until 1987, the company traded in a number of different industries including funeral parlour operator, property development and investment property. The company also operated under various names including Motor Funeral Limited and PAL Holdings.

It was not until 1987 that management decided to enter the environment industry and changed its name to Coal and Carbon Industries Limited and amongst other things worked to develop new activated carbon technology to capture was air and water particles.

In 1992 the company changed its name to Environment Group Limited.

In 1996 purchased Environmental Solutions.

In December 1998, EGL acquired the business of Horizon APC, a Melbounre based private company that specialised in air pollution control.

In September 1999, EGL entered the water treatment industry when it purchased Jetflote Australia.

In December 2002, EGL purchased Water Environmental Solutions Pty Ltd that specialises in Pressure Sewer.

In February 2003, EGL entered into a long term licence agreement with the Purac AB Group to supply their range of leading water treatment technologies and know how in the Australian and Pacific Island markets.

In December 2005 EGL purchased Anglian Water’s Australian operations, which operates Waste Water Treatment plants servicing over 200,000 people.

In October 2006 EGL purchased Mine Assist to provide a channel for our services into the burgeoning Mining Sector. In November 2007 Mine Assist expanded from its traditional Hunter Valley base to the Bowen Basin in North Queensland.

In October 2007 EGL purchased Total Air Pollution Control (TAPC) which is based in Wollongong and is an expert in air particulate removal.
